This is the cutest vintage knitted Pillbox hat that I have seen. Enjoy making this cute hat.
~~ Supplies needed: A pair of # 10 1/2" and # 13 needles. Sport weight yarn 3 oz. ~~

Now your ready to get started on your vintage pillbox hat!

Using small needles and 3 strands of yarn held together cast on 17 sts.

FIRST ROW -- Increase a st in first st ( to increase a st K front and back strand of same st), increase a st in each of remaining 16 sts ( 34 sts on needle).

SECOND ROW -- * YO, sl l, K 1; repeat from * across row.

THIRD ROW -- * YO, sl l, K next K st and following YO st together; repeat from * across row. Repeat 3 rd row 3 times. Change to large needles and repeat 3 rd row 42 more times. Bind off loosely.

FINISHING -- Using a darning needle and same yarn, insert needle in every other cast-on st and draw sts tightly together. Overcast end sts of rows together (matching rows). Pin a 1 inch fold on top of hat 4 inches from lower edge. Sew fold together making a ridge around hat. Now you have the cutest vintage pillbox hat ever!

  1. I found your site while looking for Barbie accessories to go with outfits that I knit & crochet for her for my Grandchildren. I would really like to crochet the 1890's skating outfit, but your site didn't show any kind of security so I am hesitant to input any information there. Maybe I should email you, rather than using this blog?!?! I'm new to blogging!
